Ideas Matter Data Privacy Policy

This Data Privacy Policy describes what personal data Ideas Matter ("we", "us", "our") collects, how we use and protect it, and what rights the individual identified or identifiable in such data ("you", "your") has with respect to this information.

What personal data we collect and how we collect it. When you join our mailing list, use our website or social media or otherwise contact us, we collect, process, manage and use a limited amount of personal information-in particular, your name, email address and other contact information that you provide. Your company, association or other group of which you may be a member may also provide this information to us. We also process, manage and use IP addresses, "cookies" data, and other usage and device data that is collected automatically when you access and use our website, social media, and other communications.

How we use your personal data. We control, process and use your personal data:

- to provide you news, features and information on issues of interest to you.

- to provide you information about our activities, including marketing information.

- to operate, personalise, maintain and improve our website, social media, and other initiatives.

- to comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

- for other related lawful and legitimate interests.

We use and keep your personal data only as long as reasonably necessary to carry out these purposes. We may combine the various types of personal data we collect and use it as described in this Privacy Policy. We may also anonymise and aggregate any data collected, and use and transfer any such anonymised data without notice, consent or limitation, so long as such data does not and cannot be used to identify you.

What rights you have in your personal data. You have the right to review our Privacy Policy and to opt in to our use of your personal data for communicating with you, including marketing communications; you may opt out of such use of your data at any time. You also have the right to get access to, correct, have deleted or anonymised, or transfer your personal data. (Note that these rights do not apply to non-personal information related to your company or other organisation. Any additional or different privacy terms and conditions required by your organisation in a separate contract with us shall apply.)

Who processes and uses your personal data and where. We control, process and use personal data internally, and we give some third parties access to such data to help us process the data and provide certain aspects of our services to and communications with you. These include technology providers and services such as MailChimp. For third-party providers specific to our organisation, we will provide access to your personal data only if such third party agrees to protect such data and abide by all terms of this policy. For commercial technology providers, your data will be protected by the terms their own specific privacy policy (e.g. MailChimp's policy here), but we will use best efforts only to engage with providers whose terms are materially consistent with the terms and protections of this policy. We and our third-party providers collect and process your data principally in Europe and the U.S., but some third-party providers may also do so in other countries and regions.

How we protect your personal data. We use appropriate security safeguards to protect your personal data against loss or destruction and unauthorised access, use, disclosure, transfer, or alteration. In the event of a data breach, we will promptly take steps to mitigate the breach and if required will notify relevant organisations, individuals and/or authorities. You understand, however, that no data transmission over the internet or stored on a server can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any data you disclose or transmit to us and cannot be responsible for the theft, loss, destruction or inadvertent disclosure of personal data.

When and how we may transfer your personal data. We may transfer personal data in our possession to a new owner of our organisation or in connection with a corporate transaction, such as a merger, asset sale, joint venture, bankruptcy or other reorganisation or dissolution, so long as the acquirer is legally bound to protect and use your personal data only under the terms of this policy. We also reserve the right to maintain, use or disclose personal data if required to do so by law, or in the good faith belief that such action is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, respond to claims or protect the rights, property or safety of our organisation, staff, participants or the public. We will not transfer or sell your personal data except as described in this policy or with your consent.

How changes to our Privacy Policy work. From time to time we may need to change some of the terms of this policy in order to conform with changes to legal requirements or our activities. We reserve the right to make such changes at any time, subject to notice and posting of the new policy terms on our website. You may opt-out of any subsequent use of your personal data at any time.
